About the Hoe-Down and Eureka Springs

The Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down was built from the ground up in 1981 by Jay and Judy Potter of Eureka Springs. You can still see the signature from "Miss Judy" in the cement behind the building! The Hoe-Down has been a place of quality family entertainment since then and continues to bring in visitors from all around the world every year.

The Hoe-Down has been the stage for many musicians that have gone on to play with other bands including the rock band "Boston" and the country superstar trio "Rascal Flatts." What makes the Hoe-Down unique is that the players on stage could be playing with just about any major recording act... yet they choose to be right here.

Currently, the Hoe-Down is owned by Randall and DaWayne George and their father, Leonard George. The George family bought the Hoe-Down in 2001 with partners Don and Shirley Newberry. When Don passed away unexpectedly in 2004, the George's made the decision to take over full ownership.

These aren't your typical business owners. They don't sign the checks and go on vacations. They're a part of the show each and every night! Leonard George takes the stage first with a country gospel pre-show at 7:30 each night. DaWayne plays bass guitar and plays "Ponytail", and Randall plays guitar, drums, and is the comedian "P. Nutt." They're all a part of what keeps the Hoe-Down going strong. It's not the business - it's the excitement. The George's love to entertain, and they don't settle for anything less than a top quality, high energy show year after year.

We'll be adding some neat history items to this page in the future including some old cast pictures and possibly even some audio clips from the past, too! Check back from time to time to see what we've added, and come see us at the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down!
